The Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) Program at Sumner College is the only Associate Degree program in the state of Oregon and Washington that does not require prerequisite coursework. Courses that are traditionally referred to as 'prerequisites' are embedded into our 24 month program, thus allowing our graduates to start working in the field of nursing in a shorter time frame. The college allows students who have completed college level courses at other institutions to transfer up to 25% into the program.
If you are considering Sumner College to pursue your nursing education, please contact an Admissions Representative to reserve a spot to attend one of our Information Sessions. This Session will provide you with information regarding our admissions and application process, program curriculum, transfer credit, financial aid, student services, clinical experiences, and career placement in the field. Financial aid and admissions are both available to meet with you after the session if you have additional questions about the program or the college.
The college began offering the Associate Degree in Nursing Program in February of 2013, and has been offering the Practical Nursing Program since 2009. With over 600 nursing graduates to date, we know that our school is making a positive impact on the local community and the professional nursing workforce.
The retention for our ADN program for the current reporting year is 98%, and 95% of our ADN graduates secured employment in the field (2016-2017 reporting statistics). We invite you to discover why Sumner College is an excellent choice to pursue your education..and to pursue your dream.

Our Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program at Sumner College is a two year degree program designed to develop nurses who utilize evidence for practice decisions in a variety of healthcare settings, while providing them the knowledge of issues shaping nursing and today’s healthcare workforce. Field experiences include community based maternity homes, long-term care, mental health facilities, medical clinics, and hospitals.
Our ADN program is approved by the Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN), authorized by the Office of Degree Authorization (ODA), and accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).
Our ADN program focuses on promoting intellectual growth and development for students in a safe and secure learning environment. We strive to create an educational environment that fosters the development of ethical, competent, and caring nurses that will shape and lead our future nursing workforce.
It is our responsibility to provide our students with the knowledge, skills, and ability needed to become successful in their chosen field. Upon completion of the program, graduates will be prepared to sit for the National Council Licensure examination (NCLEX-RN) for licensure as a registered nurse.
