Meet Emily. - A Sumner College graduate working as a LPN Charge Nurse at Care Center East Health and Rehab.

Before enrolling in the practical nursing program at Sumner College, Emily worked as a nanny and felt it was a great fit because of her love for children. “I have always clicked well with kids, and have been called the baby whisperer by some families.” It wasn’t until Emily was taking care of her Papa in a long term care facility that she realized nursing was her calling. “I realized that I wanted to make a difference in people’s lives, and wanted to have a meaningful role in society. Nursing would give me the opportunity to be challenged and learn new things every day.”

Since completing the program, Emily is excited about the opportunity to continue working with children. She will work as an LPN while continuing her education to become an RN. Given her experience as a nanny, she hopes to work
at Randall’s Children’s Hospital or Doernbecher Children’s Hospital once she becomes a registered nurse.

“Sumner College has given me the opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives and I am so blessed to be able to give back.” Emily is employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Care Center East Health and Rehab.

“I realized I wanted to make a difference in people’s lives, and wanted to have a meaningful role in society.” - Emily
